Farms & Animal visits April 21, 2013 774
Expensive, even with 2 for 1 entry thanks to Chiltern rail
We had been promising our daughter a trip to the zoo and decided a sunny Saturday in April could be the day. Chiltern rail have a voucher you can print for 2 for 1 adult entry if you take the train, so you can save yourself £25, although you spend £26.80 on the train...Oh the irony! Although we had to queue to get in the queue moved fairly quickly. The zoo was busy with a few pinch points where people gathered to view animals. My main criticism was that there are distractions everywhere making the animals secondary to money spinning ventures. The children loved the ice creams, bouncy castle, play ground and shop, before having a tired melt down resulting in a long exhausting journey home. It was great to see the gorillas, tigers, penguins and butterfly house, all of which are in close proximity but we didn't make it across the road and hardly saw any animals. We will definitely wait until they are older before attempting a second visit. I think as much fun could have been had at Odds Farm or similar.
