Explore and get messy at Black Park!
Join us in Black Pines Camp for some fun in the woods! We have a variety of activities for your Tot to go wild, including the mud kitchen, digging pit, water play, bug hunting, weaving, balancing and more.
Tots Go Wild is aimed at 2-4 year olds but as soon as your little one is able to walk independently they are welcome to come and join in at our exciting outdoor play sessions.
There will be one focus activity each week and other activities should always be child-led with the children being encouraged to choose what they would like to do to help them build on their self-esteem, confidence and independence. During October through to May we also have a fire which the Tots can have a go at roasting marshmallows!
Choose this ticket to casually book your child on as and when you want too. You can casually book each week or block book the full term to guarantee a place and receive a discount. Please head back to our 'what's on page' and click on 'Tots Go Wild - Block booking'.
Tots Go Wild takes place on most Fridays during term time throughout the year. Morning sessions run from 10:00-11:30 and afternoon sessions run from 13:00-14:30. We stagger the release of our tickets in line with the start of each new school term.
We go ahead in all weathers - unless deemed unsafe - so please dress appropriately!
Meeting point: Black Pines Camp (behind the picnic area, Foxley Copse). Just follow the 'Tots Go Wild' signs anti-clockwise around the lake from the car park - it is about a 20 minute walk. Buggies are welcome!
Pre-book online / family friendly
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation with the expectation of a refund or ticket transfer for a session must be made at least 7 days before the start of the booked-for session. This is to allow enough time for others on the waiting list to be given the opportunity to attend. Unfortunately, refunds are not applicable for no shows, illness (with the exception of COVID 19) or not being able to attend. A refund will be provided where someone in the household has tested positive for COVID 19 or showing symptoms and are waiting a test result. Proof of a positive test must be provided. Refunds will also be made in the event we cancel the session for example due to unsafe weather conditions.
FAQs
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Aimed at 2-4 year olds but if your child is younger than 2 and can walk independently from 18 months they are welcome. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Do I need to pay for a younger sibling to attend?
Younger siblings or babies are welcome to attend without a ticket, however when they get old and enough to partake in the activities and can walk independently we would ask you too book a place.
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Black Park has a Pay and Display Public Car Park located off Black Park Road (SL3 6DS). Car parking charges will always apply unless specifically stated; you can check charges on our website.
What can I bring into the event?
Please bring drinks and any snacks required for the duration of the event. We encourage you to bring your own hand sanitiser, however there will be some available in Black Pines Camp. Please wear suitable clothing and sturdy footwear - the woodlands can be very muddy and uneven. To minimise transmission of COVID-19, we will not be providing any snacks or refreshments.

- A prompt exit once your session has ended is required to allow time for additional cleaning of equipment.
- Please bring your own refreshments.
- Hand gel stations will be available, however we encourage you to bring your own.

Head to the three galleries and pull a power pose next to Matilda, measure yourself against Roald Dahl’s most popular characters, test your sparkiness on their Spark-o-meter, and try out Roald’s writing chair for size. Plus a zillion other hands-on activities. No sitting down for you adults, until you relax in the courtyard for a breather - phew!

The Roman Gladiators Return!
If you’re looking for a great educational and fun family day out this May half-term then come and see our Roman Gladiators battle! Watch provincial gladiators in action as a team of criminals, barbarians and other prisoners of war, disgraced soldiers and thrill seekers fight for the entertainment of the crowds and the Emperor. Who will live, and who will die: you decide!
The gladiators will be brought to life by Britannia, one of the largest (and oldest) re-enactment groups in the U.K., they will be demonstrating the excitement and brutality of life in the late Roman period. Britannia has worked on over 150 TV and film projects, including Ridley Scott’s Gladiator and CBBC’s Horrible Histories.
•Meet costumed re-enactors, explore the living history encampment and learn about life in Britain in the 1st century AD
•Enjoy thrilling combat displays as Roman gladiators compete for the Emperor and the favour of the crowds
•Buy your own replica Roman gladiator weapons in the shop
•Be warned, there may be (fake) blood – not for those of a sensitive disposition!
Please be aware that all activities are subject to change and weather.
This is a Premium Admission Event. Save money when you pre-book your tickets online. Free entry for annual pass holders.
