My name is Sarah Noori, and one of my many roles (including Mum, PTA Mum and receptionist) is as a French tutor to younger children at the local village school, with The Little Language Academy (LLA), based in Gerrards Cross. My 5 year old was born in Paris (we lived there for 5 years) and I am a fluent French speaker.

So, I’m a local Mum and like all Mums I’m always searching for a good day out! Recently I was searching for a Beach in easy travel distance from Bucks and I came across West Wittering Beach in West Sussex. An easy drive, via the M25 and A3, it took us about an hour and a half to get there and about two hours on the return journey due to traffic.
On arrival, there are manned kiosks to pay for parking (cash only). We arrived at around 9.30am and paid £8 for the whole day (the car park closes at 8.30pm). There is a vast car park which stretches parallel behind the beach, which goes on for miles! There are toilets and a first aid centre near the Windsurfing club, where you can also hire body boards and surfboards, as well as lessons on how to windsurf. There is also a nice Beach Café which has an ice cream kiosk (generous soft whips which were not pricey!). There is also a Fish and Chip kiosk which does fab, fresh fish with crispy batter and not a soggy or greasy chip in sight! There are also more toilets and outside shower facilities opposite. There is a small beach shop which sells everything you’ll need for the beach, like buckets and spades, frisbees, inflatables, sunhats, towels… No toys or souvenirs in sight however (which can sometimes be a good thing when you have children!)
The beach itself is picturesque, unspoilt and clean, we even noticed litter pickers whilst we were there. When the tide goes out in the afternoon, it leaves little shallow pools which are perfect to paddle in. The wind does get up once the tide goes out so a wind break isn’t a bad idea, but not essential. There are also plenty of shells to decorate sand castles with or to take home for a souvenir. There is continuous lifeguard presence and designated areas for water sports and swimming. Overall a fabulous day out and well worth the trip. Definitely one to go back to again and again!
