It can be tough finding activities to keep the children entertained throughout the school summer holidays. So the Museum’s Learning team have created special themed family activities, games and crafts all for the standard admission price!
This year each Terrific Tuesday date in the summer is one of the four elements.
30th July theme: Earth
On this earth themed Terrific Tuesday take part in our animal print trail, chat to the Wildlife Trust, make your own clay pot and mobile, try your hand at glass painting, build your own bug and take part in our minibeast hunt.
6th August theme: Air
On this air themed Terrific Tuesday chat to the RSPB about the wildlife in your garden, make paper aeroplanes, make a windmill, have a go at bubble painting, get creative making hand print red kites, take part in parachute games and listen to Aesops Fables.
13th August theme: Fire
On this fire themed Terrific Tuesday take part in our fire place trail, meet the blacksmith, make 2d fire engines, collage camp fires and dragon heads, create your own clay tea light holders, listen to fire stories in the Iron Age house, help cook over the camp fire and try your hand at some firelighting.
20th August theme: Water
On this water themed Terrific Tuesday take part in our toilet trail, in our craft barn you can make pond skaters, pond creatures, peg frogs and try some water colour, have a go at pond dipping, build your own water filter and rainsticks and find out about Victorian wash day.
27th August theme: Element of surprise
This Terrific Tuesday will feature all the best bits of the previous summer Terrific Tuesdays.
