TEAM TRX – THE ULTIMATE WORKOUT
Here at Chiltern Chatter HQ we’ve found a new love – Team TRX. We were recently invited along to try out Team TRX with Melissa Scott and we couldn’t wait to give it a go.
TRX is a complete body training system that uses gravity and your own body weight as resistance to build strength, balance, flexibility and core stability. It doesn’t look like an exercise device, it’s just two colored adjustable straps, a pulley system and stirrups/handles for the feet or hands. But appearances can be deceptive, along with the right instruction so you know what you are doing, the TRX provides a punishing workout. Melissa is very motivating and puts you through your paces in her Team TRX classes. The class sizes are kept small so that you get plenty of individual instruction and support while enjoying a group workout in the studio. We had fun at Team TRX but that didn’t mean the workout was easy – far from it! The classes are 45 minutes long, which may not sound like a long time but with continuous exercise, varying from squats, upper body moves (bicep curls and rows) and plank style core exercises, we were glad to have survived ☺
The next day I was sore, but it was a ‘good sore’ and I felt better.
Team TRX is for everyone, Melissa tweaks the exercises to suit your own level and can be ramped up when necessary, so real beginners can work out in the same class as really advanced, in fact we found out afterwards that an Olympic Skier had been in the same class as us!!
