Celebrate Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday in his home village of Great Missenden.
The Museum will be packed with exciting and unexpected surprises. Smell your way around the Museum on the SCENTenary Trail, write your own lines for the Big Birthday Poem, meet Storyteller in Residence Sandra Agard and join in with special Roald Dahl 100 art activities! Explore the village on our guided walks and enjoy face painting, balloon modelling, magic and archive talks throughout the day.
At 3pm, there’s a one-off opportunity to watch a special scratch ‘n’ sniff screening of the 1996 film Matilda (PG) at Great Missenden’s Blue Door Cinema. (Book via www.bluedoorcinema.org ). Visitors on the day can also join in with activities at Great Missenden Library (which was the inspiration for Matilda’s library).
On Tuesday 13 September, the day that would have been Roald Dahl’s actual 100th birthday, the Museum will be open for free from 3pm to 5pm for some after-school fun. Celebrate with storytelling, drop-in crafts and special birthday offers in the shop. Come in fancy dress for the chance to win some buzzwangling prizes!
