Last week I treated myself to a Thai massage at the Crazy Bear in Beaconsfield Old Town. Housed in a 15th century building and assorted outhouses, the Crazy Bear is a boutique hotel that has been meticulously resorted and elaborately designed. The décor, is very over the top but I love it!

My massage was booked in for 12.30pm but I arrived early to allow time for parking, as it is notoriously hard to park in Beaconsfield Old Town, especially when the market is on (Tuesday). When I arrived at the Crazy Bear, I received a warm welcome from the front of house, was offered a drink and asked to sit in the bar area whilst I filled out some paper work. Shortly afterwards the masseuse arrived and I was taken through the bar area via the garden and pool area (roll on the summer!) to the outhouses where the treatment rooms are.  The room was warming and clean and my masseur was very polite.

I do a lot of sport including kettle bells, Crossfit and tennis so I was really looking forward to a deep tissue massage. According to the Crazy Bear website all of their Thai therapists have at least ten years’ experience and this showed. The masseuse was very attentive and was able to identify areas of tension in my back and worked her magic massaging knots in my back, using candle-warmed oils. It was a full body massage, finishing off with a head massage. It was simply devine and I felt myself drifting off during the massage, I didn’t want it to stop!

CHILTERN CHATTER VERDICT

I bought a voucher for a 60 minutes Thai Massage via Groupon for £39.75 (normal price £79.50) which was a bargain.  I would 100% recommend this place, I couldn’t fault it at all.  I felt really light, airy and relaxed when I left. The staff were professional and friendly, and the Groupon voucher offered really good value for money. Keep an eye on Groupon and see if you can grab a bargain.
