Chiltern Open Air Museum (COAM), winner of the small attraction of the year 2013/14, opens for the 2014 season on Saturday 29 March and to celebrate, visitors can come along in return for a donation and explore 33 rescued historic buildings set in 45 acres of beautiful Chilterns landscape for the day.

COAM are also offering Chiltern Chatter members 2 for 1 entry for the rest of the season (more details below).

New attractions for the season centre around the Museum’s famous Victorian farm, which has featured in popular television drama Downton Abbey. Visitors will be able to meet the new female Shorthorn cows, which arrived in the farm before Christmas.

Other activities can also be found in the farm including replica scythes and Meccano models to help visitors understand how farmers grew and harvested crops in the past.

 Leela and the Lamb

The Lambing Fold has also been moved to the field beside the Prefab from Amersham for the new lambing season, which will begin soon after the Museum opens. An Easter holiday highlight will be the lambing weekend on 12 & 13 April when visitors will be able to meet the new born lambs in their new home!

Families can also celebrate Mothers Day on 30 March with a cream tea in the newly refurbished Tea Room.

A packed programme of events over Easter offer families lots of choice for exciting things to do including the Terrific Tuesdays with an Easter theme on 8 & 15 April, joining the holiday club for 5 – 12 year olds and visiting over the Easter weekend to make traditional Easter treats such as Easter biscuits, or have a go at some fun craft activities and games!
