This description of Neighborhood Cinema in St Michael’s Church, Beaconsfield, is totally misleading. The tickets are priced very high for a film that’s several years old (£30+ for me and my granddaughter) but we went because of this description of the Church being turned into an Ice Palace. Firstly, you enter through the front door not through any secret passage. The small porch of the church has indeed been decorated as a pretty snow scene, but then you enter the church and it is not decorated at all, it simply has one large Christmas tree, a couple of smaller ones and some short satin runners with “Merry Christmas” in silver letters decorating the columns. The pulpit has artificial red berries and greenery around it. All of this was clearly done by the church for its usual Xmas decoration. The only other decoration was a very small enclosure made with artificial greenery as a makeshift Santa’s grotto. The choice of refreshments was limited to crisps, popcorn (sweet only), chocolate caramels, two types of sweets, mince pies and a sugary drink or coffee/ tea. Our showing was over lunchtime, so we went without lunch. The prices were exorbitant, £4.50 for a 100g bag of popcorn, for example. You are told that you can’t bring your own food or drink, but you don’t find this out until you have paid and then receive your tickets. This whole experience is a complete waste of money and the website grossly misrepresents it
