FREE MOUNTAIN BIKE SKILLS TRAINING
15th & 22nd March, Aston Hill Pumptrack
This March Cycle Chilterns are offering two FREE introductory mountain bike skills courses for 10-16 year old boys & girls in the brand new Cycle Chilterns Pumptrack at Aston Hill near Wendover. The two hour courses give a great introduction to the technique of ‘pumping’ and a chance to polish basic MTB skills.
Pumptracks are a fantastic way for riders of all ages to learn and practice the skills needed to tackle the more advanced downhill tracks, allowing riders to build up their confidence and improve their bike handling techniques without the danger of big jumps and drops. Firecrest Mountain Biking are providing the training and have years of experience working with riders of all ages and abilities.
Built on level ground, pumptracks are designed to be ridden by people of all abilities; novices can simply roll over each section at their own pace with the more advanced riders taking full advantage of the ‘doubles’ and ‘table tops’ to jump and hone their cornering technique to increase their speed out of the ‘berms’. So no matter what the existing skill level is, the rider will make quick progress by being taught correct techniques and putting them into practice repeatedly on the small track.
What to bring: A mountain bike or BMX in good working order with at least one brake (some jump bikes and BMX only have one brake fitted), a helmet, warm clothes, something to drink.
Safety: Helmets MUST be worn during the training – any type of cycle helmet will do (you do not have to have a full face helmet). Riders can wear other safety gear if they want (gloves, knee/shin pads, etc) but it is not required.
The sessions will take place on Saturday 15th and 22nd March between 10am and noon. Places are free but need to be pre-booked as places are limited each day.
