Chiltern Open Air Museum are recruiting a Farm and Site Manager to run the Museum’s historic working farm and manage the care and maintenance of the Museum’s grounds.

The site consists of 45 acres of rural and wooded Chilterns landscape within AONB with more than 30 re-erected vernacular buildings (maintained by the Museum Buildings Manager).  The acreage includes period gardens, pasture, 4 acres of arable, with laid hedges, 4 ponds and traditional apple and cherry orchards. All these have been created on site over the last 40 years.

Various rare breed animals including:  a flock of Oxford Down Sheep, 2 goats, 3 cows and a few hens, which are owned by the Museum and are cared for year round by the Farm team.  There are also 3 shire horses on site, but not owned by the Museum.  The Farm/Site Team consists of up to 25 volunteers and one full time paid Heritage Lottery funded Farming trainee.
