Fancy joining a walking group? It’s a great way to explore new routes, great fresh air and meet new people. Below are a selection of some local groups. If you know of a walking group please let us know in the comments below:

Mental Health Mates Amersham & Chalfont

At the end of last year Claire decided to sign up to become a walk leader for Mental Health Mates. The idea was started up in 2016 by Bryony Gordon and has now grown to over 120 groups now in the uk. As a walk leader, Claire isn’t  a trained professionals in mental health but she give people the opportunity to meet up once a month to go for a short walk in the area, to come talk to other people and get some fresh air. Exercise has already been proven to help boost people moods.

The next walk is on Sunday 13th February at 11am and will be a circular walk round Hodgemoor Woods. It shouldn’t be more than a couple of miles but walking boots will properly be advised and Claire has a beagle that is excited to meet everyone. 🐶

Follow Claire on social media for information and updates.

Walk Works

Liz & Caroline run fitness & wellness woodland walks in Berks, South Oxon & Bucks.

Liz is a violin 🎻 teacher and Caroline is a photographer and they met when they had children. They launched Walk Works in April 2021, to share the local area with people and create a community of people to walk with.

They publish the walks a month in advance on their Facebook page and they are always 9.30am every Thursday. Walks tend to last 1 or 2 hour.  No need for maps/apps, just turn up and Liz & Caroline will navigate the way so you don’t need to worry about getting lost.

Every Monday, Liz and Caroline recce that week’s walk and say… How long, how many hills and how many stiles. They align to pubs and cafes to support local business and they stop for coffee during or after the walk. They have a lovely group of walkers and new people come every week. All walks cost £10 and they have a reward card and your 10th walk is always free.
