Event Details

The history of the Tudors is brought to life on Sunday 10th September at the Bucks County Museum in Aylesbury, with a wide range of interactive historians to submerge you into the Tudor times!  This event is brought to you by Aylesbury Town Council and is entirely free. For the first time ever in Aylesbury you can help to power a model replica of Leonardo Da Vinci’s flying machine – will it fly or won’t it? It all depends on man power and a very long piece of rope.  Also on display will be a host of Leonardo’s other forward thinking life changing inventions, drawings and predictions. Come and meet the “common folk” whose skills in leather work, felt making, medicine and barbers skills helped keep the country on it’s feet.  There are also the “grand folk” with their fine hats and silk clothes who will enthral you with tales of the high seas, exquisite banquets and the life of luxury.  King Henry VIII will also be in attendance, dare you ask him about any of his wives and how they met their fateful ends?   To lighten the mood, Pete the Fool will be making an appearance with hearty laughs guaranteed, along with dancing from the Capriol Dancers.  And if that’s not enough then the falconry, traditional music, swordsmen, stilt walkers, demonstrations, historians and crafts will certainly help you navigate through Tudor Aylesbury! The Tudor Fayre is on from 11am until 4pm at the Bucks County Museum, Church Street, Aylesbury, HP20 2QP Tudor Fayre takes places during the Heritage Open days when a number of events are happening within the town centre.
