Summer holiday activities for the familyIt can be tough finding activities to keep the children entertained throughout the school holidays. So on every Bucks school holiday Tuesday throughout the Museum’s open season the Museum’s Education team have created special themed family activities, games and crafts all for the standard admission price!
- Every Tuesday in Bucks school holidays is a Terrific Tuesday
- Enjoy themed family crafts and activities in our famous Terrific Tuesdays!
- BBQ food will be available to buy from Wood End (next to the Tea Room) every Terrific Tuesday
- Activities run from 11 am - 3.30 pm
- Plenty of space for picnics
- Baby changing facilities
- Ample free car parking
25th July Terrific Tuesday: Prehistoric TuesdayTuesday 25th July will be prehistoric Tuesday and part of the national Festival of Archaeology. For this Tuesday explore archaeology with Kim Biddulph of schoolsprehistory.co.uk and explore objects with Brett Thorne County Archaeologist. Learn how other people's rubbish tells a story and have a-go at Nine Mens Morris. Take part in archaeology themed craft activities.
1st August Terrific Tuesday: Artistic TuesdayOn Tuesday 1st August bring your sketch pads and draw our beautiful buildings, take a selfie or a stylish photograph and use our site to inspire your creativity. With the help of our artistic team and special guided activities make your own art and improve your techniques.
8th August Terrific Tuesday: How we used to liveThis Tuesday meet our onsite re-enactor and find out how people lived in the 18th century. Visit the prefab and discover how we used to live in the 1940s. Take part in historic cooking activities, have some fun on our vintage bicycles, take part in historic games and have a go at welly wanging. Enjoy traditional craft activities such as making ragrugs, french knitting and weaving.
15th August Terrific Tuesday: Life on the farmJoin us to discover what is growing in the prefab garden and allotment, find out about our farm animals, go on a mini beast hunt and take part in games and farm themed craft activities.
22nd August Terrific Tuesday: Gardens and growing thingsCome and explore our atmospheric Museum gardens, smell the herbs growing in the toll house and walk the woodland walk. Discover what has changed in the allotment, make your own herb bags and herby biscuits. Join our mini beast specialist and go on a beast hunt, explore our sensory trail and take part in garden themed crafts.
29th August Terrific Tuesday: Bushcraft TuesdayCome and explore the technologies of the past. Do some bark rubbing, make your own tool, take part in our orienteering course and take part in bushcraft themed craft activities.

We recommend that you bring a carrier bag with you so that you can take home all the wonderful crafts and creations that you have made. Please note that Tesco Clubcard vouchers cannot be used for Terrific Tuesdays.
