Event Details
Watch Victorian rifle manoeuvres
After the formation of the Rifle Volunteer Movement in 1859, large scale military manoeuvres were held annually. Rifle volunteer regiments and regular regiments of the British army would gather together in one location to practice the defence of the UK against the threat of French invasion. This was a hugely popular event for the British public to come and see – Victorian ladies and gentlemen would often sit with a picnic and watch the soldiers practicing their drill.
On The 11th and 12th May come and see several of the UK’s Victorian re-enactment societies working together to display a small part of the events that would take place at these annual manoeuvres.
Please note that all activities are subject to change and weather.
Standard admission prices apply. Free entry for Annual Pass holders.
