Calling all budding musicians, local bands and aspiring poets – be part of Aylesbury’s Sunday Lunch Open Mic sessions this summer.
Local performers are invited to stage their talent outside at The Exchange (opposite the Odeon) in Aylesbury every month starting on Sunday 1 May.
If supporting local talent is more your thing, you can sit back, relax and be entertained each month throughout the summer, in one of the many eateries which surround the performance area.
Willing performers do not need to pre-register, just rock up on the day, add your name to the Open Mic board and perform music, poetry, readings or recitals.
Sessions are open for all to perform and can be enjoyed on the first Sunday of each month from 11am-2pm until 4 September at The Exchange, Aylesbury, HP20 1US.
The Mayor of Aylesbury, Cllr Anders Christensen, said: “I hope these sessions will inspire and encourage local people who may have never performed in public before to step forward and do so in a relaxed, informal environment.
“Whether you’re a solo artist, in a band, would like to read poem or an extract of a book, this is a chance to do so.”
Sunday Lunch Open Mic sessions are free to be part of and are supported by Aylesbury Town Council. Electro-acoustic instruments can be used through the PA.

A fun-filled day celebrating the heritage of trees in Buckinghamshire.
Join us in a celebration of trees and Buckinghamshire’s green woodworking heritage. Find out fascinating facts about the Aylesbury Prune, the town’s endangered Black Poplars and many other trees through our mini exhibition and family activities. Meet Stuart King, the Bucks Bodger, who will talk about his many objects made from Bucks trees and regale his life as a green woodworker. Try your hand at wooden flower making in the style of traditional Romani craftmanship, which you can then decorate and take home. Listen to stories featuring woods and trees and take part in our PoeTree activity inspired by the trees and wooden objects in our brand new Discover Bucks galleries.
This activity is included in the Discover Summer Pass or Explorer Summer Pass, book your tickets today!
Under the Black Poplar Tree is one of many fantastic cultural events taking place over four days, from the 28 – 31 July 2022 as part of the Buckinghamshire Culture Open Weekend.
