I should preface this review by saying I love the Three Oaks in Gerrards Cross (their food is outstanding and don’t think I will ever grow tired of their delicious food). The team at The Three Oaks are behind the new No 5 London End in Beaconsfield so we had high expectations when we visited last Friday to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary! No 5 is an Independent new restaurant in the heart of Beaconsfield Old Town serving stylish Modern British cuisine. The restaurant was packed, impressive since they only opened on 24th June. The restaurant has a kind of Shoreditch feel to it with exposed brick walls and stained wood tables. They are about 13 tables downstairs and an additional 12 or so tables upstairs with a bar (although for now they are just open downstairs as they are just getting going).
The menu at first glance may appear rather simple but if you’re familiar with The Three Oaks then you’ll appreciate there’s a lot of complexity to the dishes and processes which is evident in both the flavour and presentation. For starters Mr Chiltern Chatter ordered crispy pigs head croquette -admittedly this doesn’t sound very appetising but it was delicious and quickly devoured by my hungry husband, he then opted for the burger which he described as one of the best burgers he’s eaten (and he’s eaten a few in his time!). I had the crusty squid for starters followed by a 6oz fillet medallion which was full of flavour served with a peppercorn sauce, house frites and a small salad. Despite feeling stuffed, I couldn’t resist trying the Peanut butter parfait with raspberry and lime – just look at the picture below, words are not needed :)!
These guys should run master classes in how to set up and run successful restaurants! I honestly can’t fault them. The food is sublime and the attention to detail is second to none. Top this with great ambience and service and you’re onto a winner. They truly deserve to do well and I can’t wait to return. If I was a local restaurant owner I would be very afraid, The Three Oaks and No5 London End are taking the Chilterns by storm. Congrats guys!
