We went to Dunstable Downs today as we were over visiting friends near St Albans. Dunstable Downs is part of the National Trust so parking is free if you're a NT member otherwise it's pay and display. The downs are absolutely beautiful and the views are simply breath taking. It's a great open space for kids to run around. We walked around with the kids & dogs and ended up in a wooded play area which the kids loved - they could have played there for hours. At the end of our walk we headed to the cafe by the visitors centre for a hot chocolate and we watched the kite flyers. Next time we go back we will definitely take a kite as it's the perfect spot to fly a kite and by the looks of it a very popular place. This is definitely a must visit if you fancy exploring the great outdoors. Plus it's worth checking their website for details of events as they had a board out advertising their Pumpkin & Spooky Walk and Meeting Father Christmas.

I love Dunstabel Downs! Its such an open place for the kids to run around that you can always see them and it is the best place I know of to fly a kite! They sell loads at very reasonable prices in the Visitor Centre but if you don't fancy it then you can always sit back and watch the sunchronisied kite flyers who are often there at a weekend. The visitor centre sells great value and great tasting food and as it is a National Trust place there are always lots of different activities for the children during school holidays. Definitely worth a visit.
