Permanent home needed
Value for money
We went to the Duende Pop Up Restaurant in Ballinger in late September with some friends. It was a fixed price three course menu with ‘bring your own’ wine (no corkage charge!). The pop up restaurant was set up in the village hall and by the time we arrived around 8pm, it was full (the night was sold out). The food was very good and the service was friendly and professional. As an experience, a pop up restaurant is fun to try, but I do think going to a restaurant is not just about the food, but also about the location, décor and ambiance so what you actually pay for is the total experience, not just the food. And a pop-up restaurant will always struggle with the ambiance and décor, even if the food is excellent. Having said that, the food and service were so good that if the Duende team had a permanent home, they would no doubt be just as popular as the pop up events are. In the meantime, I would recommend the Duende pop up restaurant as a fun evening out. – and here’s hoping that one day the Duende team choose a permanent home somewhere locally – we would be regular visitors!
