Flying Start Tuition has been shortlisted as one of eight finalists in the category private tutoring company for the national Education Investor Awards. The awards promote excellence and recognise innovation in the education sector.

EducationInvestorSian Goodspeed, owner of Flying Start Tuition says: “We have a different approach to teaching which combines techniques from neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) with traditional teaching methods and 21st century technology. We focus on the whole child, not just on exams and we believe that children learn best when they’re having fun. We are delighted that our efforts have been recognised in this way.”

Sian, a former primary school teacher, started the company seven years ago from her kitchen table after becoming frustrated with the limitations of the education system. The company’s aim is to give children the individual attention and confidence they need to help them achieve their full potential in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Flying Start has just added a third satellite centre in Jordans to accommodate the growing demand for tutors in the area. The company already operates a main tuition centre in Chesham and two further satellite centres in Aylesbury and Little Chalfont. The company also added a series of new courses aimed at home educators this year.

The finalists’ entries will now be passed to an independent judging panel, who will select a winner in each category. The winners will be announced at a black-tie dinner at the Lancaster Hotel, London, on Wednesday 16 November.
