Anyone else bored of cooking for their family after a year of lock down?

Beaconsfield based, family run Salanti Pies must have heard my calls for help and came to the rescue and kindly offered me a night off cooking 😜 and I jumped at the chance to sample their pies.

Salanti Pies was established in November 2020 during lock down by husband & wife team Soslan and Zarina, both originally from Ossetia, a region of Southern Russia. For the past 25 years Soslan had run a business facilitating access to British education for international students but work dried up due to the pandemic and Salanti Pies was launched.

Salanti Pies are not like traditional English pies, they are much lighter.  Each pie its made fresh to order and they make a great alternative to pizza. Comprised of two thin layers of pastry, they are generously stuffed with fillings made from a variety of fresh seasonal & organic ingredients including cheese, potatoes, cabbage, minced beef, pumpkin, beetroot tops, sour cherry and apple.

We were given a selection of sweet and savoury pies to try. The pies were incredibly tasty, filling and very generous in size. Our favourites were the Kadinsdjin (cheese & spring onion), Nasdjin (butternut squash – a hit with the 9 year old!) and Fatkudjin (apple – AMAZING!).  They are a fantastic easy sharing meal and would be perfect served with a salad or as part of a grazing platter. We absolutely loved them and cant wait to try them again.
