Blue Door Cinema

Updated

Blue Door Cinema is a not-for-profit community cinema based in Great Missenden.  We screen quirky art house movies, cherished classics, film noir, foreign thrillers and everything in between. Enjoy great films on a big screen with a glass of wine, a cold beer, and home-made sweets and savouries on our vintage blue and white china.  All seats come with our comfy hand-made feather cushions. We screen once a month on Saturday evenings, followed by a family film on Sunday mornings. Our family films are followed by a free craft activity related to the film. Our Sunday morning audiences can enjoy proper coffee, home-made muffins, bowls of fruit and popcorn (of course!). For our full programme of films please see our website or email us.

Quirky local community cinema

I've been twice to this brilliant new community cinema in Great Missenden to their Sunday morning family film screenings. My kids (aged 5 and 8) loved it. Not only does it show films which are a little bit different to the run-of-the-mill Disney/Pixar offerings (we saw the original 1966 Batman, and the Oscar-winning Japanese animation Spirited Away), the ticket price (£3 for kids) includes a free craft session after the film. We made moving Japanese water dragons! They do snacks (homemade muffins and cups of fresh fruit) which are a bit more adventurous than regular popcorn (though that is there too), and there is proper coffee for the grown-ups. It's so great to have this on our doorstep - I hope the local community really gets behind this place - it's fabulous!
