Black Horse, Fulmer

Updated

The Black Horse, in the sleepy village of Fulmer, is nestled between Gerrards Cross and Pinewood Studios. The 17th Century craftsman’s cottage has gradually been extended forming a charming country pub full of nooks and crannies to while away cold winter days in front of one of our open fires.

Just tried this pub for a family sunday lunch. We booked last minute so had a table in the bar rather than the restaurant. Unfortunately we ordered just after a very large party, so had a bit of a wait for the food; however the staff were very helpful and made sure we were ok waiting. The moment the food arrived, it was clear it was worth waiting for. Sunday roasts can easily be nondescript and overcooked, but I picked the trio of roasts and everything was cooked to perfection. They also happen to serve the largest yorkshire puddings i have ever seen and serve a lovely selection of vegetables including creamed leeks..

This would be a fantastic pub for the summer too and the beer garden looked lovely and had a great play area for the kids.

Next time will book in advance and get a slightly earlier table.

Overall a very god pub, with great service and fabulous food....well worth a visit.

We went for dinner with some friends to the Black Horse in Fulmer and had a lovely relaxed evening. The food was delicious and our waiter was great. It is on the more pricey side, but the food is more restaurant quality than typical pub food. Definitely a great place for a 'date night' or an evening with friends. We've never taken the kids but their website says that it is kid and dog friendly :)
