Wycombe Air Park, also known as Booker Airfield, is a small airport that looks after more than 200 aircraft including helicopters, gliders, small planes and vintage aircraft such as Tiger Moths. You can take your family to watch the general hustle and bustle of an airfield. It can get a bit windy outside but the place is enclosed and there is a café, which offers snacks, drinks and full meals.

Playtrain is an amazing children’s activity centre for the under 9s in Cressex Park with soft play slides, skittle alleys and organized activities. Although the chat between mums is about the disco on Mondays and Thursdays. Held in the Big Purple Disco Room it is a little dancers paradise with fab music, disco lights, a safe laser show and a safe smoke machine. (£4.25 under 3)

Burnham Beeches with car-free paths is a great place for scooting and biking. Also, within the woods there is a walkway across marshland. A favorite with my girl and boy as it they love to imagine it’s a railway track and chuff along it. Meeting other families coming the other way can prove interesting so the outdoor café after the walk is generally a must!

     Wycombe Museum

Wycombe Museum is really good and admission is free. As well as the normal exhibitions the museum has great activities for young people. During term, Tiny Talk Time for under-fives offers stories, trails and craft activities every couple of weeks for £2. Over half term families can drop-in on Tuesday 18th and Thursday 20th and make mythical creatures to take home, for £2.50.

     Marlow garden centrebirdhunt

Marlow Garden Centre just outside Marlow has a small multi-level soft play area for children (£1.50 per hour). Right next to the Centre’s café, it’s a great retreat on a wet day. Also wannabe-green-fingered adults like me can visit the Centre’s purpose-built potting station once the children tire and learn some key gardening skills for free to get started this spring. Check the website for special half-term events.
