We met at the school gates and from there we dreamed up the idea for a www.chilternchatter.com (for those of you new to here 🙂 a lifestyle website for the Chilterns covering what’s on locally, reviews of local businesses, recipes, blogs posts & more!) We launched in November 2012 and the response has been fantastic. Here we share with you our favourite places to go and what the local area has to offer.
What do you love most about where you live?
Sarah & Nic – we love the sense of community. Having lived in London and Scotland it was really nice to move to the countryside but still being very accessible to London, airports, the coast etc. Everyone is so friendly and in the six years that we have lived here we have made some really good friends. We really feel lucky to have ended up here and can’t imagine living anywhere else.
Favourite place to:
Visit locally:
Nic – There are so many gorgeous green spaces nearby. We especially love a walk in Hodgemoor Woods. It’s really beautiful in Spring when the bluebells are out.
Shop at:
Sarah – Su Chase Interiors in Old Amersham is filled with loads of beautiful merchandise that you’ll want to buy for your house! If you haven’t been before and you like interiors then this is a shop for you!
Go for a meal at:
Nic – For a special occasion it has to be the Three Oaks in Gerrards Cross. The food is amazing and the service is top notch. I also like the Grocer in Old Amersham for lunch; the food is fresh and delicious.
How do you relax?
Sarah – I love to keep fit, so working out is really important to me. When my youngest started school I started to play tennis again and last year I joined Dukes Wood Tennis club in GX. I also love the Yoga Flow, Hot Yoga & Barre classes at Melissa Scott Total Body Training which is located at the beautiful Chenies Manor. It such a great way to relax and unwind.
What’s your favourite tipple?
Nic – I do love a G&T with a slice of cucumber or grapefruit, but also enjoy a refreshing glass of Prosecco with the girls
Top dinner party guest?
Sarah – It has to be Jimmy Carr I recently went to see him at St Albans Arena and he had me in fits of laughter. He is rude & crude but I think he’s such a talented comedian – he’s able to deliver jokes thick and fast.
Favourite Book?
Nic – I just read ‘I See You’, the second book from British author Clare MacKintosh. It’s an edge of your seat read, which has you gripped until the end. Can’t wait to suggest it for my next book club get together.
One thing on your bucket list?
Sarah – I’d love to go on a Safari in South Africa. Hopefully Mr Stigi is reading this and can sort it out
Nic – I’ve always longed to visit New York. It’s been on my list for a long time, and maybe a big birthday celebration will eventually see my dream become a reality.
