CHRISTMAS AT WADDESDON MANOR

Claudia Cooke from Wild Training recommends Waddesdon Manor. We went to Waddesdon Manor today. It’s a great place for a family day out. Not only are the house and grounds really beautiful, but it’s really well organised. They have a Christmas Fair on at the moment with stocking fillers, warm food and chutneys for sale. The fair is set up in little log cabins so it feels really Christmassy!

In the stables there are huskeys to pet and have pictures with as well as a letter writing area for Christmas lists to Santa.

It’s really popular so I’d say it’s best getting there early in the day. But even with so many people and children, it’s quite a polite crowd with no pushing and lots of “excuse-me’s”!

We didn’t have time to go into the manor itself but that will be high on the list when we go again. I’d definitely recommend going to Waddesdon if you have children. My little boy is 17 months old and had a great time in the woodland playground. www.waddesdon.org.uk/christmas

During the festive season, the giant Hogwarts castle model is covered in a blanket of snow. Eight Christmas trees line the Great Hall, along with festoons of holly, mistletoe and golden wreath, and other sections of the tour get a yuletide makeover with actual decorations and food props from Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone. www.wbstudiotour.co.uk

WORLD’S END GARDEN CENTRE – WENDOVER

Fiona Clark founder of Inspired Mums recommendation is World’s End Garden Centre.
We love going to World’s End Garden Centre in Wendover at Christmas to get us all in the festive mood!

The highlight of our visit is without doubt the Christmas Grotto and Winter Wonderland. My boys are – for once – left speechless, captivated by the animated figures and yuletide scenes, mingled with the excitement of meeting Father Christmas.

From Saturday 22nd November to Wednesday 24th December it’s also possible to have breakfast and tea with Father Christmas in the Garden Centre’s restaurant. The restaurant is the perfect spot to grab a coffee or a bite of lunch – it even has a soft play area so my kids can burn off some more of their endless energy.

With the kids occupied with their presents from Father Christmas, it’s my turn to go for a bit of a shop. It’s packed with some great gift ideas so I can polish off my Christmas shopping and inevitably some of the sparkly Christmas decorations catch my eye!
