Pub in the woods

Last weekend we decided to try out the Blackwood Arms having heard rave reviews. It was a last minute decision so when we called on Sunday morning to book, they didn't have any tables but they managed to juggle things around to accommodate us. The pub itself is small, so probably better suited to small gatherings. The food was really good and the staff were very welcoming and attentive. There is a large garden at the back of the pub with a small seating area out front - it would be a great place to visit in the summer. The location is fabulous, the pub is set on the edge of Burnham Beeches, and there are a number of walking routes from the pub. We did a 6k loop from the pub which was really enjoyable. Would definitely recommend a visit but if you want to eat then it's probably best to call ahead and book a table.

Lovely little country pub

We went to the Blackwood Arms on a recommendation, as it's not somewhere that you'd just stumble upon. It's a lovely little country pub that feels like it could be in the middle of nowhere (but it's not!). I'd read booking was advised on their website, and it's just as well that we did, as when we arrived on a Wednesday lunch time at 1pm, all the tables were full. They'd put us on a great table, opposite the roaring fire and Christmas tree, so it felt very cosy & festive. They serve typical pub food, i had the fish pie & my husband the ham egg and chips - both were huge portions, really tasty and the chips were exceptionally good. We'd definitely go back and thought we'd take the children with us next time and combine it with a walk through the local countryside.
