A couple of weeks ago, with my parents-in-law in town, we headed to The Old Orchard in Harefield for an early Sunday dinner with the children. The pub had been recommended to me, and having perused the website, I booked a table through their online booking system. I’d definitely recommend pre booking as the pub was pretty full when we arrived. The setting is stunning with outstanding views across the countryside and lakes (it’s hard to believe this is so close to the M25).

Unfortunately when we visited it was very overcast and raining but I would imagine that on a sunny day you could sit for hours on the terrace or in the garden soaking up the beautiful view. There is also an outdoor kitchen / BBQ area, that would be great in the warmer months.

The pub has a very good range of local ales and ciders and the bartender was lovely, allowing my mother in-law to sample one of the beers to see if she liked it. The menu was very comprehensive and between us we ordered a variety of dishes from roasts to burgers, fish & chips and a sweet potato and carrot rosti with feta, hummous and a salad. The food was really tasty and the portion sizes definitely on the generous sidE. We all left very full and happy.

The Old Orchard is in such an idillic spot, we will definitely be back and hopefully next time the weather will be better so that we can combine a walk with a pub lunch!
