My perfect weekend always starts with some form of exercise, I love feeling energised and ready to grab the day. I will either head to Target Training Club in Amersham where I am a member, they have recently launched a new HITT concept which is brilliant fat burning fun.   Alternatively, I am a big fan of TRX at Melissa Scott Total Body Training in Chenies.

As I have recently launched my business, Kitchen & Soul, there hasn’t really much weekend fun to be had as it has been consumed by work. However, in the spirit of a perfect weekend, next stop would definitely be lunch.

I am a massive fan of the salad bar at The Grocer at 15, the new butter bean and artichoke salad is gorgeous. All the salads have fantastic flavour combinations.   There needs to be a mention for new kid on the block Twelve Twenty, their cakes with a healthy twist are provided by yours truly, that in itself is worth a visit (I’d definitely check out the Ginger Molasses) but Joe who owns Twelve Twenty is a brilliant chef and his menu is bloody good.

My partner Ben and I have two dogs, Poppy a Dalmatian and Kiwi a Jack Russell so no weekend is complete without a big long walk. We are spoilt for choice around here although one of my all time favourites is walking along the lake at Shardeloes, on a brilliant sunny day, with the sun bouncing off the lake, it really makes you feel grateful to live in such a beautiful spot.

More often than not, if I am not going out, our Saturday ends with a takeaway from Spice Merchant in Beaconsfield. I first became aware of the Spice Merchant when I live in Henley and I was hooked. I am half Pakistani and I have very high standards when it comes to Indian cuisine. The Spice Merchant is Indian food as it should be, carefully spiced and always fresh. This is a guilt free experience.

Sunday always begins with a yoga class, Matt Huy at Red House Spa is an amazing teacher; his class is guaranteed to put you in the right head space for a Sunday.   If I fancy something more challenging, then I’ll head to Hot Zen Yoga in Gerrards Cross; let’s be honest sometimes a Sunday detox is what you need!

Sundays are usually spent decompressing from the week or it is a full on product day for Kitchen & Soul. A perfect weekend however would be a long lazy lunch somewhere with friends, I have so many favourite spots (reading this back I am beginning to think my whole life revolves around food) but it would either be spent at The Jolly Cricketers in Seer Green or a drive to The Coach in Marlow or maybe the Nags Head in Great Missenden. So many choices!

So in short my perfect would be the perfect balance of indulgence, fresh air, dogs, friends, laughter and if and when I can fit it in a good nod to culture.

Kitchen & Soul offers a range of spiced natural energy balls are available in The Chilterns, online and at Yumbles.
