You wouldn’t think we needed an excuse to eat pancakes but luckily, we have just the day for it.
Pancake Day, otherwise known as Shrove Tuesday, is on Tuesday 5th March this year and it’s the perfect reason to eat lots of delicious pancakes. Here are some of our favourite recipes:
Lenka’s Pancake recipe: These are delicious and filling pancakes and perfect to get the kids eating fruit without them even realizing. We used bananas in ours, which made them naturally sweet tasting. They really are yummy!
Delia Smiths best basic pancake recipe: If my friend’s children come over, they always want Sarah’s pancakes (they’re actually Delia Smiths but shhhh don’t tell anyone). They are very easy to make and make lovely thin pancakes. I double or triple this recipe and we first have savory pancakes with cheese & ham and then we move onto the sweet pancakes
Scotch Pancakes: also known as ‘drop scones’ are always a winner in Nicola’s house, the kids can’t get enough of them. So easy to make and quick to put together when the kids are looking for an afternoon treat. They’re perfect warm with you choice of topping, butter and jam are always a favourite with my sweet tooth! Also yummy with strawberries, or blueberries & cream.
Bruce Paltrow’s World Famous Pancakes: Gwyneth Paltrow’s dad’s pancakes are awesome! My sister made them for us last summer when we were in New York and they were amazing. The kids loved them… Click here for recipe
Cheesy pancakes with Ham & Leeks: My kids really love savory pancakes, I think it’s from our time spent in Holland and pancake houses, so these cheesy ham and leek pancakes really hit the spot ;). Click here for recipe.
