Event Details

Around 30 karts will be taking part in Aylesbury’s third Soapbox Derby, in an attempt to take home an amazing trophy.  Over the past 2 years, we have seen some truly inspired karts race through Whitehill Park, from the fast and furious, sleek and lean karts made for speed, to the bizarre and obscure karts which have been designed, built and decorated purely for the fun of the day.  These lean mean, racing machines are powered by sheer courage, the gravity of a hill and the big push that it’s give at the start line. Whitehill Park is the setting for this exciting and thrilling event, held on Father’s Day, Sunday 18th June, it promises to be a fantastic, free day out for the entire family.  Not only do you get to enjoy the day’s races but there is also a host of other activities on offer including music, an 85ft inflatable assault course called The Whopper, young person’s bouncy castle, bungee run, face painting, crafts, games and much more, all for FREE.  The talented artists from The Queens Park Arts Centre will be demonstrating some awesome Street Art, with the possibility of joining in too.  In addition you get to play a part in judging the Best Looking Kart, as this is voted for by the visiting public on the day. The Works will be at the race with their very popular ice-cream bike, along with Just Baguettes and The Coffee Stop, should you get hungry or thirsty, it’s also possible to bring your own picnic and refreshments. With thanks to our official event supporters - Rogue Racing who are our time keepers and scrutineers for the day and TVP Aylesbury Police Cadets for marshalling and parking assistance. Should you wish to take part and race on the day, all karts must be registered in advance and by 2 June – places are limited to 30 karts, please see our website for more information www.aylesburytowncouncil.gov.uk
