We visited Aldenham Country Park on the day before Bella started school, after a few weeks of sun filled adventures we wanted to enjoy our last day. We were not disappointed. What we discovered was an enchanting place packed full of exciting things to do from, the play areas, to the picnic stops, the miniature farm & pony rides (extra charge) to the piece de la resistance the 100 Akre wood. We are big Winnie the Pooh fans & to visit somewhere that can turn the pages of the books into real life without the Disney tack is refreshing & beautiful. We played pooh sticks over the bridge, posted Winnie the Pooh letters, climbed the North Pole & leapt over stepping stones! It was hard to distinguish who's the squeals of delight were from between Granny & Bella but needless to say it was enjoyed by all. I loved the fact you were not bombarded by a gift shop full if tut that you really didn't want. We followed the honey pot treasure map that Bella was delighted by & was essentially what is a cleverly planned walk around a large open space, with a little imagination & a lot of attention to detail. It was so refreshing to go somewhere that was just very relaxing & peaceful yet captured the imagination of my four year old effortlessly & faultlessly. We have done out fair share of the theme parks but it is here she has asked every weekend since if we can take our other explorers back to.
Since our visit we have read the classic Adventures of Pooh & other AA Milne books each evening & been able to relate to what she saw which is really lovely when reading a bedtime story.
I thoroughly recommend!

“Well," said Pooh, "what I like best," and then he had to stop and think. Because although Eating Honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was better than when you were, but he didn't know what it was called.”
― A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh

Park swings n slides n things to climb on n that. Check. Petting zoo. Check. Mini cafe. Check. Lovely walks round Winnie-the-pooh themed country park? Check! It's cheap to park all day but the carpark is my only complaint as it gets very very busy and seems to attract people that don't seem to know how to park if it's busy, but! You're in for a treat when you've finally found a space for your car.

The park has equipment for the very young ones and is also challenging for those up to 10 I guess...and the petting zoo is clean, has fun animals and fun to walk around. You can feed lambs and have a nice close up chat to some lovely animals if thats your thang! If you have a Winnie-the-pooh fan in the family, there's a fab walk around the 'Hundred Akre Wood'. They'll love trying to find Winnie asleep in his house, checking out Owls' house, Eeyore's place and Rabbit's house....just try not to get caught in the Heffalump trap after you've played pooh sticks.... (Warning....some adults may get more excited than children on spotting Winnie. Please bring their medication to cope with this level of frenzied Pooh love etc)

It's a lovely walk anyhow -we didnt even cover half the hundred akres and we were there for aaaages...and I gather they do Pony rides, Survival days and even Weddings so....give it a look in n maybe take your own picnic....

A lovely enjoyable day out...doit...for a fiver parking and a picnic n some family time, y can't go wrong....
