5 minutes with the founders of The Big Little Fashion Show!
We caught up with Patsy, Zanne, Alex and Lizzie, the dynamic foursome behind the ‘Big Little Fashion Show’ (12th June at Hedsor House), about their new venture. The girls share a combined passion for creating something modern, fun and glamorous in the countryside and will bring the best of British independent fashion and beauty to the stunning countryside…….
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELVES?
Patsy – I live in Berkshire with my husband and two children,. When I am not working with clients as a personal and fashion stylist or plotting more great events with my BIG Little colleagues, there is nothing I love more than hanging out with my besties. Oh and am rather addicted to yoga… if only there was more time to fit it in!
Zanne – I’ve been in the UK for 22 years after relocating from South Africa. My Husband, 2 sons and I moved to Beaconsfield in 2010 in search of more space to raise our active boys after living in the East End of London for 10 years. We’ve added to our family with 2 boisterous Tonkinese cats who regularly make an appearance on my social media.I tend not to sit still for any period of time as I’m either dashing the boys to a class, club or supporting one of their many sports’ activities by cheering them on from the sidelines (often in the rain without my umbrella. Let’s just say that life is never boring.
Alex – I’m an expat Aussie who has lived in the UK for nearly 15 years. In that time, I’ve found my way from the bright lights of London as a single gal to my lively home town of Amersham, where I now live with my husband and kids. Life is busy, you might say chaotic (!) and always focused on the good life – forever in search of the next good meal, great event and fun times.
Lizzie – I am a married mum of two lovely daughters and my third child; our British Blue cat Marla! We live in beautiful Henley on Thames and moved there from Dubai where we lived for a few years, (our eldest daughter was born there) and before that in south London (oh those carefree days!). I am a cup half full kind of gal, who has always had a passion for fashion and like a lot of us ;doing that mad juggle of running our own business between drop offs, pick ups and lots of night working!
HOW DID YOU MEET?
We all met through Instagram and attending local events. We quickly bonded and a year on we continue to make each other laugh and importantly all have the same strong work work ethic (there are a lot of calls in the evening!).
WHAT ARE YOUR BACKGROUNDS?
Patsy – After working in the financial sector for many years and having my first child, I wanted to do something that fitted in around family life and that truly set my soul on fire. With over 10 years experience in the fashion industry, I qualified with the London College of Style as a Personal Stylist and Colour Specialist and through my business Style Fix ,I offer bespoke experiences to clients as well as branding for individuals and businesses and for magazine shoots. I also hosts successful speaker and style events too.
Zanne – I start my modelling career in Milan after being spotted in South Africa. I’ve stepped away from in-front of the camera many times to get involved in other areas of the Fashion Business from location scouting for international magazines and productions, launching an Image Enhancement company in South Africa to holding PR and marketing roles. In the last couple of years, as my children became more independent, I returned to modelling and branched into social media, setting up my blog All Things Zanne and working as an Influencer in the fashion and lifestyle areas
Alex – After a corporate career in Financial Services and Consulting, I moved into social media and blogging and now manage a local blog about the best of Bucks, deliver social media training, use my writing skills to support businesses looking to tell their brand story and now, get to bring it all together in hosting showcase events in amazing locations. It’s so exciting to finally do something I adore!
Lizzie – My background is advertising and marketing. I spent over seventeen years in London advertising agencies working on some brand biggies like MasterCard, Harrods and the BBC; and in house senior marketing roles in the wellbeing and entertainment sectors, before I set up MAMA.DO events which hosts pop up womens lifestyle talks and experiences locally throughout Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
HOW DID THE IDEA COME ABOUT FOR THE BIG LITTLE FASHION SHOW?
Over a coffee we were chatting about what we missed a bit about living in a city and we discussed doing something all together that could bring a bit of city attitude and fun to our glorious countryside. Also we are all passionate about independent brands and supporting them as much as possible. We also all knew that it had to be different for it to be successful and appealing; plus we all have other businesses and careers to keep going at the same time, so it had to be an exciting proposition for us to spend the time on it too!
WHAT SHOULD PEOPLE EXPECT FROM THE BIG LITTLE FASHION SHOW?
“The BIG Little Fashion Show” is a fresh and unique fashion & lifestyle event that promises a fun-packed day of shopping (independent fashion and accessories brands), walking catwalk shows, thought-provoking panel talks, luxury beauty experiences, drinks, food, music and even luxe piercings…. all set in the glorious, award-winning surroundings of Hedsor House near Taplow, Buckinghamshire.
We can’t wait to bring this show to the countryside this summer and provide a little escape from the day-to-day. We’re so proud of The BIG Little and everything it stands for, and are beyond excited to have so many brilliant, independent, British brands and such innovative and impressive speakers, joining us at Hedsor House.
There will be thirty shopping concessions selling at the show including celebrity and media favourites: Ridley, Rae Feather, Tilly Sveaas and Donna Ida. Alongside this shopping extravaganza, celebrity panel talks will be taking place lead by TV personality and ex Clothes Show host Caryn Franklin MBE. We are delighted that someone of Caryns’ stature and expertise is going to be part of our big event and we are looking forward to chatting to other prominent female founders and change-makers in two inspiring talks.
Also a key part of the BIG day will be the walking catwalk shows. We were keen to showcase great summer looks through the live catwalk shows – all of which have been carefully curated to celebrate real diversity, a core theme of our event.
As well as bringing some city magic to the summer social calendar we are are really keen to give something back. It’s core to our values that we have social responsibility running through everything we do. So we will be supporting two charities that are very close to our hearts – anti slavery charity YouCanFreeUs and Smart Works Reading a charity that helps local women back to work. We are thrilled to share their mission, raise funds and awareness as part of our BIG event.
We have lots of plans for expansion of our fashion event and ideas for other BIG Little shows! So it’s definitely worth signing up to our mailing list firstname.lastname@example.org as lots of exciting things to announce later in the year.
