3 THINGS WE LOVE
We wanted to share some of the things we love both locally and a bit further afield.
Alley Cat Rescue
Alley Cat Rescue is a charity close to my heart as it’s where we got our cat Coco from. Their predominant aim is to rescue stray and feral kittens to get them off the street and into that special forever home 🙂
Coco was found at one week old, rescued and hand reared by a Veterinary Nurse in Chalfont St Peter before coming to us. I contacted Alley Cat Rescue via their Facebook page to see if we could have her and Heather, one of the lovely ladies who is involved in this charity came to our house to meet us. Heather has been amazing and is so dedicated to helping these poor little kitties.
According to Alley Cat Rescue there are so many un handled semi feral cats and kittens around that the larger animal charities do not have the space needed to take them all in or the time it takes to domesticate the kittens. The only option for these poor creatures, through no fault of their own, is to end their tiny lives. But Alley Cat Rescue are there to help on a small local scale! They are based in Buckinghamshire but they will travel for delivery of cats to new homes within reason!
Have a look at their Facebook Page here and if you are looking for a kitty, do consider rescuing one. Coco is very special and is amazing with the kids (I think because she was hand reared she is used to being man handled ;)). Here is a picture of our baby now 🙂

At the beginning of July Mr Chiltern Chatter and I (Sarah) celebrated 10 years of marriage 🙂 We fancied escaping for a few days kiddie free, and after trawling the internet we decided on Marrakech – it’s only about a 3 hour flight from London, making it perfect for a short break. We stayed at La Maison Arabe, an amazing 5 Star Riad in the Medina (old town) of Marrakesh. This place is really special – the service was genuine, warm and the staff went out of their way to make our stay very memorable. I can also highly recommend the spa there – I had a hammam – you’re literally scrubbed within an inch of your life but it’s worth it as you’re left silky smooth 🙂 Whilst in Marrekech we also enjoyed a guided tour (we arranged this via the hotel) of the local sights including the souk and local historical sights and on the spare afternoons we went to the Riad’s private garden pool about 10 minutes away. In the evenings we ate incredibly well, both international and local cuisines. As well as eating at the La Maison Arabe on two evenings (which was great) we also ventured out to Gastro MK at Maison MK (voted no 1 restaurant in Marrakech on Trip Advisor) which was within walking distance of our Riad. Upon arrival at Maison UK, we had drinks and canapés on the terrace at sunset – the views are amazing and a really nice way to start the evening. Dinner is served in the courtyard which was a very romantic setting 🙂 The tasting menu was devine – the staff were very knowledgable, taking us through each course and at the end of the meal, the chef came out and chatted with us to see how we found the meal and to ask for feedback. I would highly recommend Marrakech – its very affordable compared to any average european city break and I can’t wait to go back again!
LALALAB, previously known as Polagram, is a brilliant free app (available from the Apple App Store or Google Play) allowing you to change your iPhone, instagram and Facebook photos into fab prints, magnets, postcards, posters, cases, canvas and photobooks. I was told about LALALAB by a friend after complaining that I snap away but never print any of my pictures. I printed some Vintage Polastyle prints which you can personalise by writing a caption at the bottom of the print. When they arrived I was really impressed – great quality – and i’ll definitely use them again. I like the look of their posters too and think it would be a nice way to display holiday pics. Check it out – I think you’ll like it. And if you’re looking to use them you can use this code: PG2LKNMV and you’ll get £5 off your order.
